The images below were obtained during a flyover of the Pearl River basin on April 20, 2007. They’re pulled from video footage at 30 second intervals, which corresponds to a spacing of about a mile. The images only show a small fraction of the habitat in the Pearl that is suitable for ivorybills. Most of the area in view can only be accessed by hiking and wading through difficult terrain, where there are no trails. There are many hiding places out there for this ultra-wary species.
